As a Logistics Specialist you are part of the Brokerage Operation team and
will be responsible for assisting in the process of connecting shipments with
available truck capacity to meet service expectations of customers.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Cover freight by leveraging carrier relationships and working load boards
  • Negotiate rates with shippers and carriers
  • Coordinate the shipment from dispatch to on-time delivery
  • Provide best in class customer service to both shippers and carriers
  • Proactively identify and resolve issues using critical thinking skills
  • Solicit business from current and prospective customers
  • Research and understand market trends

Key Results Areas:

  • Loads tendered
  • Revenue generation and margin levels
  • Carrier / customer development

Requirements:

  • Transportation/Logistics background and/or educational equivalent preferred but not required as Britton will train the right individual
  • Understanding of truck transportation/logistics is preferred
  • Ability to thrive in a deadline-based team environment
  • Outstanding communication skills, verbal and written
  • Effectively copes with change and is energized by tough challenges
  • Strong problem-solving capabilities and timely decision making

The Safety and Driver Development Manager is responsible for:
  • continually developing Britton Transport’s safety and compliance programs, and setting the foundation that our culture of safety is based upon
  • providing direction and administrative support with respect to the Worker’s Compensation, workplace injury/illness, and freight damage claims management program
  • managing safety process related to health, wellness, and claims
  • crossing over all company departments and interacting with department managers, supervisors and employee drivers, owner operators, and lease operators to strive to meet the goals and objectives of the Safety program to include prevention are met
  • communicating with external agencies, medical clinics loss prevention consultants, etc. to determine claim status and claims management strategies
  • development and enforcement of company policies, procedures, and training programs as they relate to company safety
  • directing of training and development for all drivers and personnel, including discussions with drivers and owner operators regarding concerns on policy and procedure, disciplinary actions, and terminations
  • ongoing development of strong working relationships with all staff: office, shop, warehouse, and driver.
